PRAYER & FASTING
Jesus Believes in prayer.
Jesus demonstrated prayer as the place of differentiation between knowing God's will and doing God's will. He modeled prayer to draw close to God and even taught His disciples how to pray (Matthew 6:9-13).
The New Testament is shaped by Jesus’ devotion to prayer throughout His ministry on earth – He even prayed for you (John 17:20-25).
At The Park, we are a community anchored in the power of prayer. We offer prayers of thanksgiving, we pray for one another; and we pray for God to use us to bring the lost to Jesus.
Can we pray for you?
It would be our honor to pray for you or someone on your heart.
REJOICE ALWAYS, PRAY WITHOUT CEASING, GIVE THANKS IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES; FOR THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS FOR YOU.
Thessalonians 5:16-182 Corinthians 9:7
LESSONS ON PRAYER AND Fasting
Fasting is a discipline demonstrated in both the Old and New Testaments by many faithful leaders throughout the Bible. Jesus final act before beginning his ministry was to fast, a discipline that he returned to repeatedly throughout His time on earth.
So, what is fasting? Fasting is intentionally giving something up - often food and/or water - for a set time to create space to pray, listen, and depend on God.
Often, we will fast during a time of need for healing that only God can provide, or to break free from an overwhelming sin that has taken up residence within us. Perhaps you seek a closer walk with Jesus or aim to focus intentionally on His specific will for your life. The good news is, there is hope in prayer and fasting!
Below are helpful videos detailing God’s word on fasting, and how you can apply this spiritual discipline in your life as you seek Him first:
